Volunteer Mentors Needed!
Employment Mentorship Support Project is a partnership between U.B.C. Occupational Therapy and Health Sciences and ConnecTra. The study will be help guide government policy and improve programming for the disabled community. ConnecTra is seeking volunteer mentors to assist physically disabled participants to explore: employment, education, recreation, volunteering, increased social engagement. Volunteers will attend; monthly meetings, assess short/ long-term goals, offer assistance with government agencies, overcome barriers, complete monthly reports and be empathetic in nature. The volunteers are members of the same community as their disabled participant, age 19 + and previously employed for 1 year. A volunteer is required for up to 4 hours a week for this 8 month project. Meetings can be held: in person, by phone, e-mail, social media.
The next Volunteer Orientation is: Sun. Aug. 27, 10am-3pm at Creekside Community Centre, 1 Athletes Way, Multipurpose Room # 4, with lunch provided.
